This is my 2nd video interview with Scott Franklin President of Lighthouse Solar out of Boulder Colorado.
SolarDave: Any electrical devices that surprise you on electrical consumption?
Scott Franklin:I think people are most surprised when you talk about entertainment centers, that their standby loss – their phantom loads if you will are so significant that people don’t believe it.
It is all incremental little bits it is like a few watts on each device but they are constant and that is what I think is most graphic and gets people’s attention.
When you put the time factor to it – watts being – “Oh, I didn’t use that VCR I only watch a movie once a week, but the whole week all 24 hours it is on running. It uses more in standby mode than it does running.
