San Diego is home to the National Solar Conference in May 2008. San Diego is a top solar city to be picked for the national conference.
California has one of the most aggressive mandated goals of 20 percent of its electricity from renewable energy sources by 2010. Right now there is talk that they will not meet that goal. One sticking point is the Sunrise Powerlink, a $1.3 billion, 150-mile transmission line it has proposed between San Diego and Imperial County.
A very large mirrored dishes solar facility in Imperial County which would be over 300 megawatts is having a hard time materializing.
On the residential solar front, the number of contractors that provide solar installation for homes has grown leaps and bounds in the past few years because of California’s tax credits and refunds program.
