From one of my readers comes the following review of groSolar from Vermont.
The person wanted to originally have geothermal installed, but after running the numbers they went with a solar thermal system.
If anyone else has a picture and a review of their solar installation, please email me and I will post it for you.
So far the job has been done well…we need to wait for my studio ½ bath to be completed with floor & walls before groSolar can add the approx. 120 gallon storage tank into its new utility closet. They did a meticulous job of laying in the copper pipes from the roof through walls in the 3rd floor office, down through the laundry room closet into the garage & the new utility closet. Everything is insulated. The proof will come when the sun is heating our water. Typically the usage of hot water by a family of 4 can pay for the solar hot water system in 3.5 years.

I just talked to these guys about a PV Solar installation. They sounded a bit like snakes in the grass, wouldn’t talk about the costs of any of the systems that they had previously done and the coup de gras was when they wanted ME to pay THEM $100 to do the site visit and present me with their estimate.
I just had to laugh at them, in THIS economy, asking the buyer to PAY for an estimate like this. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Wow, $100 for an estimate that is amazing.
Perhaps they have more work than they can handle right now.
I’ve heard of solar companies in NH/VT doing this. It makes me upset to hear, yet at the same time it is understandable. It’s used as a qualifier in a place where just to put together a qute requires you to drive 2 hours. Understandable but unreasonable…. That’s what I say…
