Picture I took on top of Twin Sisters mountain.
I hiked Twin Sisters yesterday and found a radio tower that appears to be powered by solar panels. It appears they kept adding panels over the years and as they need more power and perhaps one on the oldest panels (see lower right one) was the oldest or it had the weaker glass and was more prone to hail damage on top of the mountain.
I wonder if this cracked solar panel still works. I am guessing it does but the efficiency has been reduced because of the cracks.

Remote ground mount systems are always prone to breakage that goes undetected, and quite often the damage is due to vandalism. Based on the text of the sign, I am guessing folks think it might be vandalism. Unless the connections are broken, though, you are probably right about the panel continuing to work in a diminished capacity.
Good point on the vandalism, I had not thought of that before. However most people that climb mountains are pretty good about keeping things clean.
