What does the Superior Colorado city inspector look for in a solar installation.
My friend that recently had a solar install passed town’s inspection.
The inspector checked the wiring of the house’s electrical panel, the inverter, and the AC an DC disconnects against the project plans that were filed with the town. He noticed a discrepancy between the plan and the actual wiring related to the grounding of the inverter, but the foreman explained what they did (an extra ground wire from the inverter to the earth ground metal rod) and the inspector was okay with it.
Then he checked out the panel array from the sidewalk and had the foreman explain the methods used to ground the panels.
Pictured here is the Square D DU221RB, 30A, 120/240 VAC, manual lockable disconnect and heavy duty safety switch 2-pole, single phase, 30A, 600 VDC, HU361RB Type 3R enclosure.
Here in Colorado all electrical panels are mounted outside the house. Which is odd for me since I grew up on the east coast and all were mounted inside.
After the inspection is done, my friend will have to wait about a week for Xcel Energy to come out and put the new meter in to make the system active.
Sounds like there is some paper work that my friend needs to provide Xcel before they come out. I will find out more about that and publish it here.
