John does a great job discussing if micro inverters are ready for use in residential installs.
This is my second round of interviews with John Shaw of Bella Energy in Louisville Colorado.
SolarDave: Are Solar Panel Micro-Inverters Ready for Primetime?
John Shaw:
[transcription coming soon]

Dave,
Another great interview. Thanks again. I’d like to embed it well.
Couple of questions that I wish John had addressed:
1. How much more is a system with micro-inverters?
2. How do you weigh this initial extra cost — I’m assuming a micro-inverter system is more expensive up front — against extra power production over the life of the system.
3. My understanding is that SMA, etc. central inverters are toast at about 12 years (a cost that, to my knowledge, solar companies typically do not calculate into their long-term system projections). If enphase’s micro-inverters last 20, or 25, if you calculate the fact that you don’t have to shell out several grand for a central inverter replacement 12 years in, is a micro-inverter system potentially cheaper than a central inverter system?
Yes, please feel free to embedded it on your site – just link back to this blog post.
John is pretty good at reading this site and I bet he might jump in and answer your questions.
I am glad you liked the interview, I think John does a great job answering my questions. You can tell he is very passionate about what he does.
