NextLight Renewable Power LLC announced plans to install a large solar energy facility 2,300-acres (Agua Caliente Solar Project 70 miles east of Yuma) near Hyder than could supply power 100,000 homes for a year. A large array of mirrors would collect sunlight which would heat up pipes that would turn in to electricity. The location is in a very remote area (Dateland and Hyder on the current White Wing Ranch) but near transmission lines. They plan on selling the electricity to CA. It could create 50 full-time jobs. Kind of sad that Yuma itself will not get to use the power from this sun power plant.
