When searching for a contractor to install your solar system consider the following:
- Since they might be messing with your roof (expensive item) make sure they are properly insured.
- Does the contractor work with the state's rebate program (if they have one). Most will file and reduce the price of the system, for you as a convenience.
- How many installs have they done in the past two years?
- If out what panels they like to work with and see if that is something you want - you might want a panel that has a longer warranty for instance.
- Ask for at least one recent customer reference.
- Make sure they have a licensed electrician on staff.
- See if they have experience with your HOA (if you have one).
